Made from a strict selection of the best Sauvignon grapes, the 2019 Pouilly-Fumé La Demoiselle de Bourgeois is harvested on the Kimmeridgian marls of Saint-Laurent l’Abbaye, which give deepness, roundness and a remarkable longevity to the wines. The 2019 opens with a very clear, fresh and aromatic bouquet of tropical fruits (mango, passion fruit) intertwined with the fascinating purity of the Kimmeridgian terroir that adds flinty and iodine notes. Dense and intense on the palate, with firm mineral acidity and a polyphenol structure, this is a supple, quite rich but vital and aromatic Pouilly with a long and gastronomic finish. 14% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in March 2022. -

The 2019 Sancerre Blanc Jadis comes from Kimmeridgian marls of Chavignol and opens with a clear, intense, iodine yet initially a bit oaky bouquet with ripe (passion) fruit and cassis aromas and those of crushed stones (or oysters). Fermented in oak and stainless steel, this is a full-bodied, fine and elegant yet tight and mineral-structured Sancerre with concentrated but still juicy fruit and this stimulating salinity and lemon juice from Chavignol. The 2019 Jadis pairs richness and density with purity and lingering salinity. An impressive wine that should be handled carefully. 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2022. -

Bourgeois's 2019 Sancerre Blanc d'Antan Terroir de Silex is from a vineyard first planted in 1936 on predominantly flinty soils. The nose is intense, fresh and pure in all its flintiness and dried herbal aromas. This is a really pure and mineral Sancerre, or life from stone (to quote a well-known South African Sauvignon). On the palate, this is a pure, fresh and saline, quite firm and grippy Sancerre with still a little astringent tannins but lots of purity and tension. This is definitely a wine for connoisseurs and patient wine lovers. If you like oysters, you'll like this wine too. 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2022.
