Warm, intense and with super ripe yet refined and precise dark fruit, spicy toast and flint aromas open the 2019 Saumur Champigny Franc de Pied, which comes from a huge layer of sandy soil that has been planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Fermented with whole clusters, the fruit is generous and elegant on nose and palate, pure and refined but rich and aromatic. This is a full-bodied and generous but finessed and fresh red with a marvelous texture and perfectly balanced fruit. The wine is superb, and although there might be more exciting terroirs, the silky texture and refreshing grip is unique, probably due to the antique vines and the whole-cluster fermentation, a method that is quite rare in Saumur. This Franc de Pied is fabulous, pure, fresh and crunchy and reminds me of finest Austrian Blaufränkisch. Tasted in June 2021.

The 2019 Saumur Champigny Les Mémoires is showing very well today, revealing a vibrant, elegant bouquet of peonies, roses, licorice and spices. Less charming than the 2020, it’s more complex. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny with bright acids and a lively mid-palate, it’s mineral and telluric with subtle roasting notes and a vertical, ethereal presence on the finish enhanced by chalky dry extracts.

ヴィンテージ情報
収量の少なかった2年の後、2018年はよい収量が収穫できた。春は雨が多かったが、夏は暑く、ちょうどよい時に雨が降った。非常に手間のかかる年であったが、カベルネフランもシュナンブランもパーフェクトな熟度で収穫することができた。

1850年にドメーヌが設立され、ボルドー出身のティエリージェルマンはマリーと共に1991年にロワールに移り、シャルリーフコー(クロルジャール)を師として仰ぎ、1992年に当ドメーヌを取得しました。
手摘み収穫、選果、全除梗、15-22度で6,000Lのコンクリートタンクで2-5日間マセレーションした後、15-20日間発酵。
澱と共に6,000Lと1,200Lのフードルで12ヶ月間熟成。フィルター、コラージュせずに瓶詰め。
上品なピーマン香、スパイスのニュアンスがあり、品種の良さが出ています。
凝縮感のあるしっかりとした骨格でバランスの取れた味わいです。

From the commune Chacé and the lieu-dit Les Poyeux and vines averaging 35 to 45 years old rooting in a calcareous terroir, the 2019 Saumur Champigny Terres Chaudes opens with a lovely fresh and aromatic bouquet of perfectly ripe and concentrated dark and red berries that intermingle with peppery and discreet nougat notes. Lush and silky on the palate, this is a beautifully fruity Cabernet Franc with a serious tannin structure and a salty-vital, refreshing, pure and crunchy finish. A really fabulous wine that is irresistible. Tasted in June 2021.
