Drink Date:2028 - 2050
The 2022 Spätburgunder Hohlen is from the Zunsinger Rosenberg near Müllheim that faces southwest and is located on shallow limestone soils in which vines were planted in the 1960s at pretty high density. Fermented with 90% whole clusters, this is an intense yet elegant, flinty as well as floral-scented Pinot with a coolish nose. Tight and leathery on the palate, with animal notes (Brettanomyces?), this is a masculine, intense and tight, saline and, hopefully, age-worthy Pinot with a concentrated finish that reveals lots of skins but less juice. Tasted as a sample ready for bottling in February 2024.

Drink Date:2027 - 2045
The 2022 Spätburgunder Möhlin is from a southeast-facing lieu-dit in the Ehrenstetten Oelberg. It's intense but elegant and refined on the nose, with ripe, dark fruits and some volatile flavors due to the long fermentation that finished in the barrels. This is a lush, intense and tight, velvety and rich as well as powerful, tense, elegant and persistent Pinot Noir with a fleshy and aromatic finish. It's not as fine as some of the other wines in this tasting, yet it has body, intensity and a firm, persistent structure. Tasted as a sample ready for bottling in February 2024.
