The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaumonts was only slightly touched by the frost, and Emmanuel described it as his “favorite” in his cellar. I concur. It has a seductive red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry-scented bouquet that is beautifully integrated with the new oak. There is genuine power and intensity here. The palate is marked by filigree tannin, a perfect line of acidity and immense precision on the finish. It is the kind of wine that makes you go starry-eyed, to wit, the best Beaumonts that I have tasted from barrel in 2016. Magnifique!
