The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is the finest rendition of this cuvée I've tasted chez Bachelet. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackberries and raspberries mingled with exotic spices, rose petals and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit that's girdled by tangy acids and fine, powdery tannins.

Bachelet's 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes once again incorporates his holdings in Les Evocelles, which didn't produce enough grapes to merit a separate vinification. Bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, spices and licorice, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with velvety tannins, lively acids and an elegant, seamless profile.

The 2020 Côte de Nuits-Villages wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis and dark berries, framed by a deft touch of spicy oak. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and sapid, with tangy acids and a long, penetrating finish. As I've written before, if there's a sleeper in the portfolio of this sought-after domaine, this cuvée—from the lieu-dit Queue de Hareng in Brochon—is it.

Bursting with aromas of cherries, blackberries and sweet soil tones, the 2020 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit, ripe, powdery tannins and a long, flavorful finish. It's produced in tiny quantities, but it's a regional wine that punches well above its weight.

There are only five barrels of the monumental 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes, a wine Denis Bachelet is inclined to rank alongside his 2002 and 1999 as among the greatest hits of his career. Unfurling in the glass with notes of peonies, rose petals, wild berries, loamy soil, black truffle, exotic spices and blood orange, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with huge concentration, lively acids and beautifully ripe, powdery tannins. Concluding with a long and perfumed finish, it's one of the wines of the vintage.

The 2012 Gevrey Chambertin Vielles Vignes comes from several parcels and is raised in 30% new oak. It has another extremely pure bouquet, the new oak succinctly embroidered into the pure blackberry and raspberry fruit, the mineralité just lurking underneath. The palate has a candied note on the entry, a sweet core of red berry fruit pricked with hints of orange zest and it displays wonderful tension and vigour on the finish. This is outstanding for a village cru.
