Another rather backward cuv?e during my visit was the 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, elegantly muscular wine evocative of cherries, wild berries and potpourri. As with the Griotte, I'm hesitant to even offer a score, and look forward to revisiting the wine in bottle.

Invariably one of Perrot-Minot's finest wines, the 2019 Mazoy?res-Chambertin Grand Cru lives up to expectations, mingling aromas of wild berries and rose petals with hints of orange rind, exotic spices and beetroot. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's layered and velvety, with considerably incipient complexity and enough powdery tannin to balance the sucrosity of fruit that characterizes this ripe vintage.

The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte has a very attractive bouquet with joyful maraschino cherry, cassis and blueberry scents permeated by cold stone, almost flinty aromas. This is very well defined. The palate is crisp on the entry with fine tannin, layers of pure red and black fruit and well-judged acidity. It conveys the typicit? of this premier cru with style and panache and as such, it constitutes one of Christophe Perrot-Minot's best offerings this year. This comes recommended.

The 2016 Morey St Denis en la Rue de Vergy has ample red cherry, strawberry and bergamot scents on the nose, though here I would be seeking just a little more detail and clarity. The palate is smooth and quite fleshy on the entry, moderate acidity, the tannin a little obtrusive at the moment, although they should melt together with time. Not bad, but I want to see more energy and finesse by the time this is in bottle.
