The 2016 Corton les Renardes Grand Cru includes 50% whole-cluster fruit and is aged in 80% new French oak. This was surly and introspective on the nose, some vanillary oak waiting to be assimilated into the dusky black fruit. The palate is well balanced with rounded tannin, good structure and impressive density. Perhaps by comparison I prefer the detail exhibited by Anne Parent’s best Pommard premier crus, although the matiere suggests that this will have aging potential.
